Dental Trauma

Protocol Summary

Assess type of injury (fracture, avulsion, etc.). Immediate stabilization and repositioning if needed. Refer to endodontist for complex cases.

Management Steps

1. Immediate Assessment

Determine type of injury: crown fracture, root fracture, luxation, or avulsion. Assess for associated injuries.

2. Stabilization

Stabilize tooth and surrounding structures. Splint if necessary. Take radiographs to assess extent of damage.

3. Treatment Planning

For simple fractures: restore with composite or crown. For complex cases: refer to endodontist for root canal therapy assessment.

4. Follow-up

Schedule follow-up appointments to monitor healing and vitality. Consider endodontic therapy if pulp is involved.
